Private car traffic and parking in the area of the apartment is generally forbidden for non-residents of the neighborhood. However, should you rent a car locally or a private garage you might be issued a special permit for the center of Florence.
The historic center of Florence is a Limited Traffic Zone (Zona a Traffico Limitato or ZTL) and special permits are required to enter it. ZTL access passages are marked by special signs and monitored by cameras taking photos of vehicles' license plates. There are high fines if you enter without having a permit.
Florence is a walkable city. The apartment is centrally located within walking distance of all the major attractions. We strongly suggest not to come to Florence by car.
